On May 20, eight pastors gathered with about 20 police officers and sheriff deputies to officially launch the Greensville County Sheriff’s Office, Emporia Police Department Chaplains Program that's been in the works since pre-COVID.  The Rev. Harry Zeiders, Rector of Resurrection Church in Emporia, VA was one of the volunteer pastors at the launch event.

Harry shares, “We look forward to praying for these public servants every day by name, attending roll calls as well as other meetings and events, doing ride-alongs, serving them as well as the general public during calls as needed, and being available for them behind the scenes.”

One of the many goals of the Chaplains Program is to provide another avenue to help law enforcement officers cope with the daily pressures of the job. Read more in the Independent Messenger’s article about the launch here.
