What is the Vision for 50?

Church Planting is central to the mission strategy of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic. Since its founding as a geographic diocese in the Anglican Church in North America, the diocese has consistently devoted itself to planting a thriving network of Anglican churches throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

As we concentrate on reaching our communities through church planting, God has given us a vision to plant fifty churches by the end of this decade. Known as the Vision for 50, this plan focuses diocesan resources on planting churches that will plant daughter churches on a regular basis. By definition, a Vision for 50 church plant is a new worshipping community whose vision for its life together leads it to become self-governing within three years, self-sustaining within five years, and self-replicating within seven years. In this way, the diocese is building a culture in which all of its churches will be sponsoring new churches in three ways: prayer, financial partnership, and offering people and/or in-kind resources.
