All Ages at Corpus Christi Enter into Lent Together 🌱

On March 4, Corpus Christi, Springfield, VA, celebrated Shrove Tuesday together. It was an opportunity to share a community meal of pancakes, a chance to prepare the ashes for Ash Wednesday, and we prayed together to "bury the alleluias" as we entered Lent together. For the next 40 days, we'll have a season of repentance and penitence, with a special focus on fasting, almsgiving, and prayer, as we journey with Christ on the way to the cross and the resurrection.

The next day, we held our Ash Wednesday services. What a beautiful beginning to this Lent. We were reminded that we are dust and to dust we will return. We were also reminded that God hates nothing that He has made, but longs for us to come to him for his mercy. We enter this season of repentance and renewal with the hope that Jesus meets us with the grace and mercy of the cross and resurrection to free us from the things that hinder us from becoming more like Him.
