Ascension at the Fair

by Darryl Fitzwater

Church of the Ascension in Kearneysville, WV is excited to have space at the local fair again this year! The 69th Annual Jefferson County Fair is underway. This year we have a new tent that provides an extra prayer station with a prayer wall in it. We’re giving out study Bibles and prayer aids to those who seem seriously interested and children’s books to families. In a rural community, filled with flannel and livestock, the legacy of Patrick’s mission among the wild Irish has come to mind. So also has Mary’s song, “the mighty He has brought down from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate.” And while I wouldn’t label funnel cake as necessarily the “good things,” but His filling the hungry with the smell of barbecue is always an aid in helping share the transforming love and healing power of our Lord Jesus. Thank you for your prayers!

(Below are photos from this week, so far, and a video from Fr. Darryl on day one of the fair!)
