Synod 2016 - The Rev. Johnny Kurcina
The Rev. Johnny Kurcina served as a youth pastor at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg; an assistant minister at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Richmond; a pastoral intern at Christ the King, Alexandria (during its first year as a new church); and through the Timothy Program as a church planter in training at The Falls Church (Anglican) before heading out in 2011 to become the lead planter and rector of Christ Church Vienna. Johnny is a graduate of Madison High School (where CCV worships), UVA, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Trinity College, Bristol, U.K.
Synod 2016 - Jim Beavers Sermon (Morning Prayer)
The Rev. Jim Beavers was serving as Headmaster of Trinity Christian School (Fairfax) when he and his family visited Truro Church and discovered Anglicanism. In 1994, they and others were sent out from Truro to plant Christ the Redeemer with the Rev. Tom Herrick, where Jim served in several roles including Senior Warden and, later, part-time Chief of Staff. He earned an M.Div. from Trinity School for Ministry in 2009, and was ordained by Bishop Guernsey as a priest in the Anglican Church in North America that same year. Jim became vicar of Christ Anglican Fellowship (Orange, Virginia) in 2011. He also has served on the Standing Committee of the Diocese since it was first established.
