With All Your Mind

Dementia and Christian Hope Retreat
March 2-3, Chantilly, VA

Every Sunday, Anglicans hear Jesus’ command that we love God with “All our heart and all our soul and all our mind.”  What does that mean when we face dementia, either in someone we love, or in our own lives?  Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA will be asking that question together starting on Saturday, March 2, as we begin our congregational retreat:  “With All your Mind – Dementia and Christian Hope.”  The retreat will run between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Lunch will be provided.  There is no cost, though a donation to help with lunch expenses is appreciated.

We will have two speakers on March 2. First is Dr. Karen Scandrett. She is a geriatrician at UPMC in Pittsburgh and associate professor of geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh. She will help us understand the medical realities of memory loss. Our second speaker will be her husband, the Rev. Dr. Joel Scandrett, associate professor of historical theology at Trinity School for Ministry. He will help us think as Christians about memory loss. He will also be our preacher at Epiphany on Sunday, March 3.

This retreat is open to all in the diocese.  Please sign-up so that we can prepare accordingly.  The sign-up, plus the full schedule is available here. If you have any difficulties signing up, or other questions, please contact Mtr. Pamela Meeks.
