Summer Lunch Blessings

Love Baltimore's BE Transformed

When the Lord gave me the vision of owning a ministry home in Belair-Edison (Baltimore, MD), I saw this picture above! Children sitting around the table in fellowship and eating their lunch. Many children in Baltimore city rely on lunches at school for their nutrition. So, in the summer, many go without. I remember one evening at our Creative Thinking club, we were sharing our "Highs and Lows" for the day and one of our children's low was that he did not get his free lunch that day because there was no school. When we heard this, our team knew how important it would be to implement this lunch program at BE Transformed. So, in partnership with the city's Summer Food Service Program, we did just that. We were able to serve lunches Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Children and their families came and not only were they fed, but they played with legos and puzzles, wrote in journals, had stories read to them, had outdoor play, formed new friendships, celebrated birthdays (see our birthday princess in the right picture below), and most importantly they were loved!

There were so many times I could see Jesus sitting with these kids through our many volunteers. In addition to many of our mamas and friends from the community volunteering, we had members from Church of the Resurrection in Lutherville come down to serve.
