Messiah Provides Shelter, Meals, and Love

Church of the Messiah (Chesapeake, VA) is a part of the Chesapeake Area Shelter Team (CAST), a group of faith-based organizations who take turns at their sites hosting men, women and children experiencing homelessness. The week of January 3-10, Messiah hosted up to 60+ each night, including families with children. This is an all-hands-on-deck effort, as every day during that time, we provide overnight shelter, hot dinners and breakfasts, bag lunches, special activities and services, and most important, the love of Christ.

Our volunteers work various shifts between 6:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., cooking, cleaning, keeping watch, helping with activities, and more. All of the food and almost all the supplies are donated from the congregation.

Months of planning and organizing go into this, and we are the ones who always come out so blessed. See photos below.
