Carols by Glowstick

Church of the Word in Gainesville, VA enjoyed Christmas fun and treats afterwards with their annual Carols by Glowstick. Carols by Glowstick was a family-friendly, everyone-welcome, Christmas sing-along for young and old alike!

By Annette Fakoury

We've enjoyed Carols By Glowsticks every year. Each time has been a little different. In the past it was inside and led by a duo called “The Braeded Chord.” The event was very interactive with a lot of audience participation! This year, due to the pandemic, it was held outside and led by Peter Fakoury, one of our church members and a professional kids’ musician. We all gathered in the church parking lot with our bells and glow sticks as we sang and danced along. The nice thing about this event was that it was purely for fun! Yes, there will be  a reverent Christmas Eve Service next week, but this was a way of inviting not only church members and preschool families, but also the local community to enjoy the fun of the season. Of course, the real meaning of Christmas was not overlooked.. Thanks to Pastor Eric for introducing this event to us!
