A Church Planting Story

In the latest episode of Appalachian Anglican, a podcast presented by Church of the Ascension in Kearneysville, WV, listeners get to hear the incredible story of a church planter (Darryl Fitzwater) in this Diocese. No two church planting stories are alike, and this one is another amazing tribute to God’s faithful provision. Listeners will fully appreciate how a church planter experiences the ups and downs of church planting and all in less than four years. Planting Ascension required:

  • Discerning which of many locations to plant the church (having many open doors to an Anglican church plant);

  • Experiencing a “church launch story you don’t want to be yours;”

  • Pivoting (because of COVID) just as Sunday attendance had grown to exceed building capacity.

The good news is this past weekend, Ascension celebrated its first Eucharist on new land (20 acres) purchased with the goal of building their own worship facility. See the photos below of the Eucharist service while you take a moment to listen to the story of Ascension. Your own faith will be encouraged!
