Retired Clergy Lunch

On March 23, Bishop Chris invited the retired clergy (and spouses) to a special luncheon, including words of encouragement and Holy Eucharist, hosted at All Saints’ Church, Woodbridge, VA. Bishop John Guernsey has been appointed as chaplain for this particular group of Diocesan clergy. The feedback from participants has been positive, including these notes from two of our retired clergy below:

Thank you so much, dear Bishop Chris and staff, for your kind invitation to share Holy Communion and a graciously hosted savory luncheon shared with our fellow hoary headed if not shy and retiring table mates together with the chance for a thoughtful colloquy at our tables about ourselves and our retirement.

Your sermon impelled me to take my place this Holy Week at Jesus’ feet, and for that pilgrimage of the heart I am doubly grateful. -The Rev. Nicholas Lubelfeld

Loved meeting other retirees - most of whom did not seem to be actually retired in the traditional sense of the word!! Bishop Chris gave an important pre-Holy Week homily and celebrated the Eucharist along with Bishop John (ret).. I saw friends I haven't seem for years and certainly look forward to more gatherings as time allows! Thank you, Bishop Chris and staff, for a great event! -The Rev. Valarie Whitcomb
