Pentecost Around the Diocese

Throughout the Diocese, churches donned red during services and celebrated the birthday of the Church and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with joy, enthusiasm, fellowship, and food. Enjoy photos below!

Church of the Apostles (Fairfax, VA) hosted a "Taste of the Nations: International Food and Fun” celebration to share the Feast of Pentecost with friends and neighbors from the neighborhood in the vicinity of our church. They had many nations represented and enjoyed sharing cultures and food with each other. Pastor Nick shared a brief message about the significance of Pentecost, historically and for believers today.

Church of the Redeemer (Camden, NC) celebrated Pentecost with a beautiful baptism during worship. They continued feasting after worship and enjoyed an international potluck meal in celebration of Pentecost.

Truro Anglican Church, (Fairfax, VA) hosted their annual international festival on Pentecost. Their TIPS (Truro International Programs and Services) classes wrapped up. Over this academic year, God brought them 374 students from 47 different nations. On Pentecost Sunday, many students set up booths with food, art, and much more. Students also performed music from their home counties.

“Almighty God, on this day, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (BCP, 2019)
