Global Missions Leaders - You are Invited!

Churches around the Diocese gather regularly to discuss international mission opportunities. Alan MacDonald shares about the most recent gathering on Feb. 15 at Truro Anglican in Fairfax, VA.

It's been very encouraging to see how this group continues to grow.  From the beginning when Hans Frank-Holzner from The Falls Church Anglican and I started talking about pulling a group together, our goal was to provide a place where mission leaders in Northern VA could get to know each other, hear what our churches are doing in missions and outreach, as well as share ideas and discuss issues of mutual importance. The roundtable started a year ago and it has grown from the original three churches (Apostles, The Falls Church and Truro) to ten churches (The original three plus Restoration, Incarnation, Resurrection, Holy Spirit - Leesburg, Epiphany, Christ Church - Vienna, Shepherd's Heart).

While I serve as the facilitator for the group, we want to keep moving the quarterly meeting to different churches each time.  The host church gets to choose the discussion topic.  At Truro we've been working on updating our missional vision, values and principles so several of the participants brought copies of their vision and policy statements to share.  It was a very fruitful discussion.  The thing I really enjoy seeing is when participants say to each other, "Let's talk more about this after our meeting.”  There is much shared learning and mutual encouragement.

If you would like to learn more about this group, please email Alan.

Participants at our February meeting included: Robbie Pruitt, Shepherd's Heart; Jane Campbell and Ward Davis, Church of the Apostles; Gordon Coffee, Epiphany;  John Bottimore, The Falls Church; Rod Nunez, Christ Church; Emily Williams, Incarnation; Jim Oakes, Holy Spirit; Scott Buckhout, Restoration; Alan MacDonald, Truro.

Alan MacDonald is the Missions and Outreach Coordinator at Truro Anglican Church in Fairfax, VA.
