Frederick Anglican Fellowship: Update

Exciting news! Frederick Anglican Fellowship has begun lay-led Morning Prayer services on the first Sunday of each month in Frederick, Maryland. Our first service was on Sunday, October 2, led by David Breisch. Even though it was pouring rain, we had a good turnout, including people we knew and guests they brought. It was a multi-generational group, and the fellowship was warm.

Our second Morning Prayer service was on Sunday, November 6. Although some from October were unable to be present, it was a fine service and was followed by good conversation. Folks from the service took copies of our newly printed brochures to pass along to others who may be interested in this church plant.

We are planning our next service for December 4, the Second Sunday in Advent.

In addition to the monthly Sunday services of Morning Prayer, a Frederick couple opened their home for mid-week Evening Prayer and fellowship every other week during the fall. This has paused now until early in 2023, but it has been a wonderful addition to our community-building.

In all this, we are grateful for encouragement and wise counsel from Father Justin Clemente at New Creation Anglican (Hagerstown, Maryland) and from others in the diocese.

Please pray with us for the following.

  • Wisdom for the pace and direction of Frederick Anglican Fellowship’s growth.

  • A strong gospel foundation undergirding the planting of this church, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit so we will reflect our Lord in all we do.

  • Divine provision and protection for all aspects of this work, and all those involved in it.

  • More contacts in Frederick to grow the community committed to this church plant, including additional people for the core team of lay people who are praying, planning, and leading at this stage.

  • A meeting place that can accommodate mid-week activities and growth, provide good access and parking, and fit our small budget. (So far, we’ve used a training room at Federated Charities in downtown Frederick for our Sunday services.)

  • The right priest, at the right time, to give clergy leadership to this church plant.
