Frederick Anglican Fellowship: An Update

Frederick Anglican Fellowship’s Advent/Christmas celebration

Frederick Anglican Fellowship (FAF) in Frederick, MD closed out 2023 with an Advent/Christmas event on December 17 at the home of one of our core team members. We began with the Family Morning Prayer service, followed by a scripted reading of the Nativity story with everyone taking a part. This was followed by a festive brunch and the distribution of hand-made angel ornaments.

Epiphany Evening Prayer

To begin 2024, we were given an opportunity to practice flexibility! We had planned and announced a change in our Sunday worship schedule and location to afternoon at Centennial United Methodist Church in downtown Frederick.  However, the church decided to close on Sunday, January 7, 2024, due to inclement weather. So, we relocated our service of Evening Prayer to a home. We followed the service with festive refreshments featuring a home-made king cake, complete with a baked-in fève, in honor of Epiphany. Later this month, we’ll be gathering downtown on a Sunday afternoon for coffee and hot chocolate and a stroll along Carroll Creek to see the decorated boats that are a tradition in Frederick. On the first Sunday of February, we’ll have an afternoon service of Holy Eucharist with the Rev. Clancy Nixon visiting from Church of the Holy Spirit in Leesburg to lead us. 2024 is off to a good start!

Boats on Carroll Creek

Looking back, we are very thankful to the Lord. He blessed Frederick Anglican Fellowship in 2023 with a faithful group of worshippers who share his love and grace, visiting priests willing to come and celebrate the Holy Eucharist with us, a creative core team that shares the work required to keep going, and a diocese that has helped and encouraged us time and again.

Many thanks to all in the diocese who prayed for FAF on January 7 as a part of the diocesan cycle of prayer! Ahead in 2024, we ask the Lord to send a priest/planter to lead us as we grow and bear fruit in our congregation, our neighborhoods, and the city of Frederick. Please pray with us for this, and for patience and joy as we continue this journey, with God’s help.
