Faith Pilgrimages in 2023 - Two Opportunities within the Diocese

You are Invited to Participate in a Faith Pilgrimage in 2023!

By Rev. Dean F. Schultz

Throughout Judeo-Christian history, faith pilgrimages have provided God's people with life-transforming worship encounters. The Jewish people made three pilgrimages per year to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feasts of Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. Likewise, Christians over the centuries have journeyed to the Holy Land, Greece, Turkey, and Rome to connect with the ancient roots of their faith.

The opportunity to go on a pilgrimage unfolded for my wife (Glorianne) and me in 2014 when we joined an Anglican pilgrimage group. As we walked in the footsteps of Jesus (not to mention the Old and New Testament saints), the Bible came alive before our eyes.  The experience was so impactful that we began to lead faith pilgrimages to the Holy Land in the years that followed through our ministry with Worship Equippers for Christ. We also added a pilgrimage to Greece, Turkey, and Rome, to walk in the footsteps of Paul.

I invite you to join our faith pilgrimages team and me for an 11 Day Pilgrimage to the Holy land to "Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus," January 16-26, 2023. This unique worship encounter helps make the Bible come alive through insights shared by our experienced Israeli-based Christian guides, biblical teaching in its cultural context, prayer, ancient liturgies from our 2019 BCP, and praise accompanied by the Davidic instruments of the Psalms.

We also offer a pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey (with an optional four-day extension to Rome) to Walk in the Footsteps of Paul on April 17-26, 2023. We recommend you complete your registration for either pilgrimage as soon as possible to reserve your place.

I hope you can join other friends and me from our DOMA church family for one of these pilgrimages in 2023. Come ready to be refreshed and encouraged in your walk with Christ!

2023 Holy Land Pilgrimage

by the Rev. Peter Frank

Are you interested in traveling to the Holy Land with Epiphany in 2023? We are currently looking at dates in the spring and fall for a possible trip. (photo, right pilgrims on a boat in the Sea of Galilee).

While international travel with friends from church is fun, going to the Holy Land will also build your faith in surprising ways. Fr. Peter’s experience, as someone who has made the journey four times over the last 15 years is that pilgrims always learn something new and see the Bible come alive when they are there. We will be traveling and, for a portion of the trip, staying with our friends at Christ Church just inside the Jaffa Gate of Jerusalem's Old City. Christ Church is an Anglican congregation with significant ministries to refugees, Jewish residents and Christian pilgrims in Israel. It is a wonderful place to see what God is doing right now in the Holy Land even as we explore what He has done in the past.

To learn more and get your name on the interest list, send Fr. Peter an email.

The Rev. Peter Frank is the Rector at Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA.
