Donuts & Cider

Church of the Apostles in Fairfax, VA, sponsored a Cider and Donuts Social on Saturday afternoon, October 30, as an opportunity to meet some of our neighbors in the community, as well as people who were driving by on Lee Highway.  In addition to offering free donuts, popcorn and apple cider (both hot and cold), Apostles parishioners provided a variety of games for the kids, with candy prizes, as well as a count-the-candy-corn contest, balloon twisting, fun temporary tattoos, and a fire pit where kids and adults could roast marshmallows and assemble s’mores.  Members of the Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department joined us, making a fire engine available for tours.  Some of our intercessors set up a tent decorated with flowers and plants and chairs inside, where folks could come aside for personal prayer.  One of the neighbors, when asked if she had everything she needed, replied with a big smile, “I got prayer! That was exactly what I needed!”
