Disability Awareness in the Church

The ACNA Access Leadership Network seeks to discover, develop, and deploy leaders working to build communities of belonging for those with and without disabilities in parishes across the ACNA. In addition to monthly virtual gatherings that include guest speakers, discussions, and prayer, ALN also provides a variety of resources and support for anyone in ministry looking for ways to provide church and ministry access to everyone. Learn more on the website and sign up to receive updates.

This March, in Washington, DC, District Church (not a part of ACNA) is hosting a free event for the public to provide more awareness of this often overlooked population. Many throughout the ACNA and our Diocese will be attending. If you do attend and find resources helpful for DOMA churches, please contact Heidi Reichert (who is on the leadership group for the ALN) and she can share them.

Join us on March 16 for a day of learning about disability within the church, from local churches and national organizations working to advance disability inclusion in the church.

Whether you have a disability, have a child or family member with a disability, or want to learn how to better support our brothers and sisters living with disabilities, this is a space to learn and grow together!
