Clergy and Spouses Retreat

One of our clergy retreat participants shared this photo of the lovely wall art in her home. It’s a perfect, daily reminder of our call to live as beloved children of God.

On May 2-4, clergy and spouses from the Diocese enjoyed a retreat at the Virginia Crossings Hotel and Conference Center north of Richmond, VA. In addition to time away from the daily demands at work, participants were able to receive words of encouragement and reminders of God’s love from Bishop Terrell Glenn and his wife, Teresa. Terrell and Teresa encouraged each of us to “live as beloved children of God.” They shared personal stories of the healing and growth necessary to be able to daily experience God’s love in a way that overflows to those around us.

In addition to thoughtful speakers, the retreat included time to rest and enjoy the quiet campus at Virginia Crossings, child care for young children, Morning Prayer and Compline, a viewing of the movie Emanuel, an evening of fun (think “youth group games”), and ended with the Holy Eucharist and sermon by the Rev. Mary Hays, Canon for Clergy and Congregational Care.

The Diocese is grateful for the team that planned the retreat, the prayer team from the Falls Church Anglican, and for the child care team from All Saints’ Church.
