A New Space and an Exciting Opportunity for Corpus Christi

by Morgan Reed

Back in mid-2022, Corpus Christi Anglican (Franconia, VA) outgrew our old space in the chapel of the Springfield UMC, which prompted a search that resulted in us moving into the preschool at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in January 2023. Our church continued to grow and we quickly outgrew the preschool indoor play room! We want to make sure that we have the space capacity to invite new people and have visitors come and join us!

After several full Sundays in the month of September, the vestry decided that we needed to begin searching for a new space to accommodate the church’s growth. We began looking into several options. As we were looking at other options, an opportunity came available in the building we currently rent! There was an opportunity to keep the same service time but to move upstairs into the Fellowship Hall at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. We said yes to this amazing opportunity! Beginning December 3, we will be worshiping in the Fellowship Hall and our coffee hour after the service will be in the main narthex. The nursery, atrium, and youth group will continue to be in their same classrooms.

Here are some of the reasons I am excited about this:

  • The Fellowship Hall can seat about 300, so we will have plenty of room to grow. There is now room for all the friends and neighbors that we have wanted to invite!

  • We can store our items in the same room which will make setup and tear down even easier.

  • Having our coffee and fellowship time in the church Narthex will give us more space to spread out.

  • We love our landlords. Prince of Peace has been a blessing to work with and do kingdom ministry alongside. Also, they have great playgrounds :)

  • This is an economically sustainable solution for a church our size.

  • The kids can continue to be in their current classes so they don’t need to adjust to a new space.

  • It is still handicap accessible. We will follow up soon with more information about parking as well as some emails with opportunities to help get the new space ready. We will need to do some cleaning, window decal installations, painting, and other projects to get the room ready. Be on the lookout for those emails. For now, mark your calendar for December 3 when we will move upstairs to the Fellowship Hall. Thank you for your prayers for a new space. God has provided in abundance! Praise the Lord!
