Funding Process for Planting New Churches, Established Missions and Congregations

PURPOSES AND PROCESSES FOR FUNDING:

  1. Planting New Anglican Churches

  2. Facilitating the Health, Growth & Equipping of Established Missions and Congregations

Church plant funding is built around what research consistently indicates is the most effective to encourage good stewardship: partnering relationships.

Matching funds to supplement ministry at a local level are granted by the diocese. These grants are meant to support Missional outreach to the un-churched within the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic.

GRANTS ARE GIVEN FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

New church plants

The GCC may provide some financial support to individual church planters or church planting teams* for the following (listed in order of their likelihood of being funded):

  • Coaching by an approved church planting coach;

  • Boot camps or other forms of intensive training in church planting

  • Community evangelism initiatives and other evangelistically-oriented outreach ministry

  • Materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, signage, advertising, etc.);

  • Personnel support (e.g., worship leadership, outreach, etc.). The funding philosophy for new churches follows an ascending model designed to fuel success. The exact amount of the funding will be decided on a case-by-case basis and determined by the fruitfulness of the ministry.

Established missions and congregations

The GCC may provide some financial support to existing missions and congregations to begin or support initiatives designed to reach un-churched members of the community, so that they may know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord within the fellowship of His Church.

Priority is placed on activities that result in the conversion of lost people and their incorporation into DOMA congregations and missions. The support may include partial funding for the following (listed in order of their likelihood of being funded):

  • Training of lay leaders for mission;

  • Community evangelism initiatives and other evangelistically-oriented outreach ministry;

  • Communications and materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, light refreshments, etc.), and

  • Personnel (salary or hourly wage).
