Our annual Diocesan Synod this past Friday evening and Saturday was such an encouraging experience. Synod has been growing every year, with more than 350 people joining in. Most were not official delegates—they simply wanted to participate, since Synod is open to all.
What has always been called “the rough and tumble” of politics has seemed to get increasingly nasty, while widespread rejection of biblical values has led some Christian leaders to advocate a “strategic retreat” from the public square. But I praise God for those who courageously and sacrificially work for justice and speak the truth of God’s Word in the world of government.
