Lay Marriage Mentor Couples attend training workshops
Over eighty people gathered at All Saints' Church, Woodbridge, VA for two consecutive Saturdays in February for a special "Marriage Savers" series of training workshops jointly sponsored by the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, All Saints' Church, the Falls Church Anglican, and Christ the King in Alexandria, VA. Lay couples from churches in the diocese were trained and certified in the Prepare/Enrich marriage mentoring program to facilitate marriage ministries in their local church.
Mike and Harriet McManus of Marriage Savers led the workshops that covered such topics as helping couples strengthen their marriages, mentoring couples whose marriages are in crisis, offering conflict resolution and reconciliation ministry for separated couples, mentoring pre-married couples in their discernment process, providing support for blended families, as well as equipping local churches to grow their marriage ministries through the efforts of trained lay marriage mentor couples.
"There is no more important work than the building and sustaining of healthy marriages," said Bishop John Guernsey. "There is renewed energy and excitement in the area of marriage that is building in the body of Christ."
