Through the grace of God, fourteen CANA clergy from Virginia, Texas, Ohio and Maryland spent April 5-7 being refreshed and healed at Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida. The trip was made possible by the extraordinary generosity of an anonymous donor who understands the power of healing prayer and wanted to offer that experience to ADV/CANA clergy. Founded by Judith and Francis MacNutt, CHM reaches out internationally to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring physical healing, inner healing and deliverance to those who come for prayer. The participants were especially grateful to get away at this critical time shortly before Easter. Most of us have not previously experienced this kind of sustained, intensive individual prayer. As people who always minister to others, the fourteen clergy were struck by how enriching it was to be completely cared for and ministered to.
A memorable highlight of the three-day retreat was to meet the MacNutts, and to be prayed for individually by them. The MacNutts are world-renowned prayer ministers, and both have written numerous books on healing and deliverance. Judith MacNutt spoke about the book on which she is currently working, which will be about angels.
In the closing session, we were invited to give our testimonies about what God had done for us in these three days. Almost all had stories of dramatic transformation. One experienced a miraculous healing of his arthritic back. We who surrounded him for prayer were awestruck by the mobility in his neck, knowing that he had three fused vertebrae in his neck. Others reported deliverance, new freedom from old hurts and traumas, newfound forgiveness, and strength for the spiritual battles up ahead. Our prayer ministers, all volunteers, were a huge blessing to us, and they testified that we were a blessing for them as well. Rarely does a group of clergy come for intensive prayer ministry. Francis MacNutt, speaking at the closing, said that such a group is strategic in God’s mission, because we encourage, enlist and empower people to minister God’s healing, freeing and strengthening prayer to Christians.
