CANA Haiti Mission with John Nuzum
The LaCroix New Testament Mission is the ministry of Pastor Vaugelas Pierre and serves the people of Lacroix, Haiti. Though not hit directly by the powerful earthquake of January 2010, many people have fled to the Lacroix region for help. Lacroix is about 80 miles north of Port au Prince, the epicenter of the quake. Pierre began serving at LaCroix in 1975, and since then has heeded God's call by providing a school for children in Haiti whose parents cannot afford to send them.
Our very own ADV Deacon, The Rev. John Nuzum (Associate Pastor, Church of the Holy Spirit in Leesburg, ACNA Diocese of the Holy Spirit), heads up the education arm of this ministry and is coordinating a short-term mission trip during Holy Week of 2011 (the week of April 17, 2011). Churches from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia serve the mission of Pastor Pierre and his wife, Ermithe. The mission feeds and educates over 3,500 children each day at seven locations.
Last year Anglicans from the ADV went to Haiti and will be returning there in April 2011. Youth groups are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Airline tickets will be bought mid-March. If you are interested in knowing more about the coming mission trip, please contact John at 703-771-9525 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
