The Standing Committee of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic officially accepted the applications of Christ Church Between the Rivers, Yorktown and Church of the Messiah, Chesapeake, and welcomed them as two new members of the diocese.
On November 6, CCV started to gather weekly for Sunday worship, but on Monday, November 7 we all went to live our lives to the glory of God and to bless the town of Vienna. I am not sure where we will be in a few years, after all, as a kid eating tater-tots in the cafeteria at Louise Archer I never imagined I would be leading a church in that same room. But for now, I am grateful that God has given us this new gospel driven, externally focused mission for Vienna, Va. Wherever he takes us next is up to him anyhow.
The ADV is offering a three-workshop series this fall to help all churches increase their capacity for ministry and lead them into greater growth. This series is designed to break the cycle of fatigue and attendance decline. “Retooling Your Church for the Harvest” will energize church leaders and provide the tools to engage a rapidly changing culture with the Gospel.
Although the book was intended for business leaders, church leaders are taking note that our models for church would benefit from a more organic, rather than mechanistic viewpoint.
