I have been to Ukraine four times before on short-term mission trips, and I loved introducing a new team to the charms of Ukraine, including the beauty of Kiev and the delights of Ukrainian food. But most of all I loved seeing my American friends immediately warm up to the Ukrainian people, finding friendships and a spiritual kinship that transcends distance and culture. It was a great joy introducing Alpha to such an enthusiastic group, knowing that at the end of our two days of training they were well prepared and determined to start Alpha so that they could reach their friends and communities with the love of Christ.
Ten years ago, Church of the Holy Spirit had its first meeting in the Nixons’ living room. At that time, the church had no name, no place, and no money, but we did have a vision from God. Nov. 22, CHS will celebrate its new space at 908 Trailview Blvd., Suite 200, Leesburg , VA 20175. And on Jan. 6, during the dedication of the space, they will pray these words: “Lord Jesus, make this a temple of your presence and a house of prayer … May it be here, Lord Christ, that we are made one with you and with one another, so that our lives are sustained and sanctified for your service.”
